Mollies Rocket goes wire to wire in John Wayne
Mollies Rocket improved his career record to 6 for 8 on Saturday night when he wired the field in the $65,000 John Wayne at Prairie Meadows.
Mollies Rocket won by 4 1/4 lengths over Basic Chance. It was another 4 1/2 lengths back in third to Minecraft Maniac.
The John Wayne was a six-furlong race for 3-year-olds and up bred in Iowa.
Mollies Rocket ($4) set fractions of 22.61 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.85 for the half-mile before covering the distance on a fast track in 1:10.01.
It was the second straight win at the meet for Mollies Rocket, who captured an allowance June 6. The 5-year-old has raced exclusively at Prairie Meadows and has been ridden throughout his career by Glenn Corbett.
Tom Wellington has trained the horse throughout his career. The son of Rock the Rock races for Robert Brown, Sandra Brown and John Lawless.
