On a night that had already seen wins by horses sent off at 63-1, 25-1, and 22-1, 40-1 Youaremycandygirl kept the theme going in the C$500,000 She's A Great Lady final for 2-year-old pacing fillies at Mohawk, winning in 1:50 4/5 and completing a banner week for the Ron Burke barn.

Starting against Grand Circuit foes for the first time after winning three of her five New York Sire Stakes tries to date, Youaremycandygirl was raced aggressively by driver Louis-Philippe Roy, clearing 4-5 favorite Kendall Seelster (Randy Waples) for the lead at the 26 4/5 opening quarter.

Youaremycandygirl was unchallenged in the backstretch, which allowed her to get to the half in 55 seconds, and with Kissin In The Sand (Yannick Gingras) unable to reach her from first-up on the final turn, she remained clear at three-quarters, which she put up on the board in 1:23 flat.

In the stretch Kendall Seelster came to the outside to try and go by, but it was to no avail as Youaremycandygirl went on to win by a length and a quarter. Kendall Seelster had to settle for second, with Come See The Show (Tim Tetrick) coming up the inside to get third. Percy Bluechip (Trevor Henry) brushed from eighth and last to fourth in the final quarter, and Pueblo Blue Chip (Jody Jamieson) collected fifth.

It was the biggest win so far in Roy's career, but he noted that his filly wasn't the smoothest in the turns.

"In the last turn, she did the same thing she did in the first turn, she put some bad steps in," said Roy. "I couldn't let her go that much, but I had a lot of horse. In the last turn I said if I can just get her to go around that turn, I think she'll be hard to beat. Behind the gate I was planning to race her from behind, but I changed my mind pretty quick because nobody was leaving inside of me. I just gave her a shot, and she responded well."

Youaremycandygirl is a daughter of American Ideal who has now won four times from six lifetime attempts, and she has earned C$331,545. Bred by Birnam Wood Farms, Youaremycandygirl was purchased for $150,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale and is the second foal out of the Somebeachsomewhere mare Sweet Lady Jane ($119,789). Sweet Lady Jane is a half-sister to Sweet Lou (Yankee Cruiser, $3,478,894) and Bettor Sweet (Bettor's Delight, $2,782,353). Youaremycandygirl paid $82.70 to win.
