Race 1
(6) ALWAYS REESE raced better last time when dropped into a claimer and her final 1/4 sticks out a bit when compared to her rivals; top call. (5) DORABELLA finished ahead of the choice last time and her good tactical speed puts her in the mix. (8) SPARKLE has turned things around racing at Sarnia and she returns to Mohawk sporting a 4-race win streak. She is in with an upset chance here. (7) BAD AT REDHOT is the only mare in here - aside from the choice - who has paced a sub-28 second final 1/4 recently; consider for exotics.
Race 2
(3) MIAMI wasn't raced hard in his debut from an outside post, but he did manage to come on late and pick up a check. A more aggressive try here is likely. (4) MYSTICAL MISSION came up against a tough rival but was no match late. He has a better shot here. (5) BLOOD MOON Is coming to hand and he looks like the other one that is in with a decent shot to win. (2) P L KETCHUP qualified okay for this debut. He could crack the exotics at a decent price.
Race 3
In a race featuring all first-time starters, I will side with (6) LADY ELLA, who was bought by trainer/driver Zeron and partners last November in a private sale. She looks revved up for an aggressive try here. (1) TWIN B EPIC - a $35K Canadian Yearling buy - did only what she was asked to do in her lone qualifier. There is likely much more under her hood than what you see in the program. (3) EASY THREE - a $50K Harrisburg purchase - is another that looks primed for a big try here. (2) AZURE SEELSTER was purchased for $55K at the Forest City sale. She ramped up her late speed in her second qualifier and is another in with a decent chance in a race where pretty much anything might happen.
Race 4
(2) SHAGNWITHTHEDRAGON finds a good spot here and he should be sent hard off the gate this time by Drury; top call. (8) ABSOLUTE INTENT - and $82K Harrisburg buy - has shown enough speed to contend right away if he is put into the race early enough. (7) SOCCER HANOVER is worth a long look debuting for trainer Moreau here; using. (5) TOXICITY - full-brother to 1:49 4/5 pacer Poisonous - has an upset chance here if he can avoid getting the first-over journey he got last time.
Race 5
(7) BIGGIETEEN showed some improvement in his first start out of the Boyd barn and now he shows up in a Grassroots race, where longshots often click. I'll give him a nod here expecting a big price. (6) NASCAR SEELSTER qualified faster than he has ever raced in preparation for this sophomore debut; using. (5) SOUTHWIND GENERAL was passively driven last time, but he is likely to get a much more aggressive try here racing for Grassroots points. Toss him on your Pick 4 tickets. (4) KAZIMOTO could have this race fall into his lap late with so much early speed signed on. He is another to consider for multi-race bets.
Race 6
(9) ROYAL WITCH finally dodges division leader Magic Presto here; graduation time. (7) PURE KEMP had a good trip last week, but she couldn't chase down a strong winner. She is in the mix again, but may have a tough time getting past the choice. (2) MILLERS SONG can be expected to improve in her second start over the track. (6) NOBLE PRIZE is a great one to use on the bottom of Super bets.
Race 7
(10) DOC SEMALU ships in and switched bans from Filion to Larocque - a move that has paid immediate dividend several times in the past. I will take a swing here; 10-hole and all. (2) MASTER THE VIEW has the best recent race, but his 0-14 record is concerning. (3) WESTERN PHIL comes off a lifetime best score out of town and he should be heard from here. This spot doesn't appear to be that tough. (1) ZIGGY BOOM showed some late interest in his debut. He could improve sharply here at a big price.
Race 8
(5) HILL OF A COLT drops back into a logical spot after taking on some very tough competition in his last two. He can bounce back here. (4) SAFEKEEPING was roaring up late but she was just shy of nailing the winner who had slipped up the pylons. She should be a big threat here if she stays trotting. (8) MOONSTAR MISSION is on a good roll and with the step up in class and move to an outer post, his price should be much better here. He's not out of this. (6) AMOREUSE HANOVER should take a share here racing from close range.
Race 9
(5) INTENDED STYLE is hot right now, and he has won many times on this circuit in the past. He should be tough in this spot. (2) IM THE PIED PIPER is also on a good roll and this appears to be the perfect class for him. He is hard to leave off multi-race tickets. (4) RED BUGLER rarely missed a check and notice he has won 12 of his last 42 starts. He is a good one to use in vertical bets. (1) JAC SPADE goes back to the barn where he has spent most of his racing life. Considering the three weeks he has missed, I will be watching him here, tabbing him for next week.
Race 10
(3) SILVERINYOURPOCKET finds a good spot to start his sophomore season and he looks well prepped. I'll give him the nod. (4) TREMENDOUS PLAY did most of the heavy lifting last week, only to be picked off late. That was one of his best efforts and a better trip could get him that elusive first win. (1) LINDY THE KID fits well here, looks ready and can't be dismissed. (2) BROOKDALE FLETCHER raced okay in preparation for this and he gets a hot driver here who scored five wins on Monday night. (6) OAK ISLAND improved dramatically in his last start and his trainer is typically among the leaders in the Grassroots division. He could be a great price and he has upset possibilities.
