Race 1
(7) ASA IM READY trotted a big uncovered mile in her debut and she was still coming at the end. Her odds will drop significantly here, but she has a big shot. (10) ONE OF THE FEW is obviously one of the best in here, but with stakes engagements likely coming soon, it’s hard to predict what kind of trip he will get. (4) STRITCH was no match for a debut winner that came right back and won easily for a second time on Monday. Improvement is likely from this filly here. (8) YO YO MASS takes slices regularly. Keep him in mind when making Tri and Super bets.
Race 2
(9) KAMERAN HANOVER finished well in his sophomore debut and he fits well in this field where there are seemingly few contenders. He should be right there if he starts his move earlier this time. (5) PARKHILL NONSTOP has yet to race on a dry track here. He could take these a long way if it doesn't rain. (6) NOBLE PRIZE keeps finishing on the edges, but he does face easier here; using. (7) NORTHERN MAJOR will likely be leading again at the 3/4, whether he can last or not is the big question.
Race 3
(2) ACTION MAJESTY has had little chance with the two trips she got from post 9 in her two 2017 starts. She should be plenty fit and she gets post relief here, yet she should be a square price; call to upset. (6) SOIREE SISTER was absolutely flying at the wire last time after recovering from an early miscue. She should be a threat here if she stays flat. (7) WINDY SPORT gave it up late as the big chalk last time and her trainer said that she had a couple of excuses. I will try to beat her again here with the understanding that she could do better. (4) ROSELILY was bought specifically for these races, but she will have to show she can turn her game up a notch to beat these.
Race 4
(1) BRAVE WORLD had the misfortune of coming up against a very sharp Southwind General in Grassroots competition at Flamboro and he showed little. This is more his level here and he could wake up in a big way in this spot. (5) JAYDENS PLACE comes off what was by far the best mile of his career; using. (2) TIGERS WAY faces an easy field here for his seasonal debut and it wouldn’t be a big shock if he popped right away. (7) HERMANUS is always contentious, but he can’t seem to close the deal; small share predicted.
Race 5
(9) EXEMPLAR drops to a level where he should be prominent throughout; top call. (4) OHO DIAMOND faced the best older trotting mares on the continent last time and she wasn’t disgraced. She could get bet heavily here, but she is an obvious contender. (7) DEWEYKEEPUMNWHY raced well at this class last time. He can take another small share. (2) BOP TOO THE TOP has raced well for a rookie trainer out of town. She could hang around for a slice here.
Race 6
(4) YARIS BAYAMA – last year’s OSS Gold Super Final winner – looks ready to do some damage here to kick off her sophomore campaign; top call. (1) THE JOY LUCK CLUB keeps proving herself with every challenge she faces. This is her toughest test yet, but she can’t be counted out. (5) FADE has really improved her late speed this season and she is another that can take this highly contentious Gold event. (7) ANDERSON SEELSTER was flying late last time but she was too far back. She should pass some of these late to take a share.
Race 7
(2) JAC SPADE ships in with good form for a high percentage trainer and he has made most of his living on this circuit in these classes. I’ll give him the nod here. (1) BIG MOMENT comes off a sharp effort where he was nailed late by a class-dropper; using. (6) CUNDALINI races better near the front and he will likely get sent here by McNair racing first off the claim. (10 OUTLAW GUNPOWDER can never be counted out with his excellent late kick.
Race 8
(3) ESCUELA can show a lot more here starting from a better post and she fits well in this class; slight nod. (7) RAMAS LAST SON is another that should be one of the main ones in this class; using. (4) OVERCOMEBYVICTORY had a rough trip last time she raced here, but she still hung on for a share. She is in with a decent chance. (2) BURNIN MONEY had a perfect trip last week and had no late response. Another smaller share is likely for him.
Race 9
(9) ALWAYS REESE isn’t the safest play here coming off a vet scratch, but dropping into a conditioned claimer could be enough to get her a win here; slight nod. (6) MACH MAJORETTE has raced well in every start for Cullen and she gets a much better post here; using. (3) BAD IN PARADISE rolled by tiring leaders late last time. Roy has figured out how to time her move, which makes her dangerous right back. (5) ITS ALLABOUTHEBASS can close for a share leaving from a better post.
Race 10
This is a tricky conditioned race filled with sires stakes horses that have bigger goals in their sights this summer. I am going to give a slight nod to (3) MIGHTY NICKY, who should be a good price and note that driver Macdonald has already won with several bombs at this meet. (2) JAKE got up to win his seasonal debut and he is a big player here, but he doesn’t have to win this. (5) SCENE A MAGICIAN and (9) TYCOON SEELSTER have similar profiles to Jake. All are obviously capable of winning here, but it’s hard to predict what trip they will get.
Race 11
(5) FLAHERTY left hard, yielded, then got shuffled in a higher class last time. Not getting a check allows him to drop to the lowest class here. He should be tough vs. these. (8) SPEEDLING exits some quick miles vs. tougher and he should be a factor. (9) HES A SENSATION got hung out on a sloppy track last time when he dropped to this bottom level. He can hit the ticket with a better trip. (1) ROCK N ROLL LEGACY is worth a look returning to a track where he took his life’s mark at big odds last summer. (3) MISTER X should take at least a small share here.
