Race 1
(1) BOOMBOOM BALLYKEEL followed along for third in a quick mile last week, and although he can be somewhat trip-dependent when racing on this circuit, this is just the type that Roy can sneak by with off a covered trip; slight nod. (4) DUC DORLEANS was first-up in the same mile chasing the eventual winner who was taking a big class drop. Expect him to be positioned closer to the front early here. (7) HIGHLANDBEACHYCOVE drops again and he could roll by all of these late if the trip goes his way. (3) MCKINNEY could pop here if he can sit the pocket throughout. While that scenario is possible, there are no guarantees.
Race 2
(4) DARLINONTHEBEACH paced a 1:49 4/5 mile under wraps preparing for this start. While that was against much easier, she looked so good that night that I am going to use her as a single in the Pick 5. (7) PURE COUNTRY has yet to win so far this season, but she has done well here in the past and she will likely be the main threat to the choice. (2) BLUE MOON STRIDE raced decently chasing Lady Shadow first up at Harrah's Philly. She should make the ticket and can be an exacta factor. (5) LAKEISHA HALL is sure to be heard from early and she should stick around for at least a small share.
Race 3
(4) DOWNBYTHESEASIDE is one of the marquee performers for this edition of the North America Cup and he drew into an elimination where he should have no problem getting the job done; no excuses. (3) WESTERN HILL is coming around quickly for the white-hot Alagna barn; consider for exotics. (8) STEALTH BOMBER raced well in the Somebeachsomewhere stakes but he was picked off late by one that was closing just a bit quicker. He should pass many of these for a slice here. (2) IDEAL WHEEL should be closer to the lead here which gives him a better chance to make the board.
Race 4
This might be a good time to jump on the (6) SHAMBALLA train in a race where there may be lots of action. He could go off at a big price and he is bound to wake up soon. (7) JINS SHARK has been outstanding this spring and he should be a top contender here. (8) WAKIZASHI HANOVER returns to the scene of his greatest triumph in sharp form; using. (2) MODERN LEGEND looks ready to produce a sharp mile here in a race where it makes sense to spread when putting multi-race tickets together.
Race 5
(7) IDYLLIC BEACH is the best of this bunch if she produces her best and there is no apparent reason to think she won't; top call. (2) ROARING TO GO has the speed to contend with the choice and she could sit a sweet trip in her pocket; using. (4) JAYES A LADY gets a big test here, but her improving form puts her in the mix for at least a share. (3) SOIREE SEELSTER has only missed the board once and she Is coming to this race in good form, too. She should fill one of the lower exotics rungs.
Race 6
(2) CALL ME QUEEN BE will no doubt be headed for the front early here, and she has a good shot to take these all the way or win from the pocket on a night where speed will likely dominate. (5) NIKE FRANCO N is in excellent form and starts from a great post. She can't be ignored in this spot. (6) SOLAR SISTER will likely need one before producing her best. Tab her for next week's final. (3) SANDBETWEENURTOES has dominated locally for several weeks. She isn't out of this, but the top three are tougher than the company she has been beating recently.
Race 7
(6) TEQUILA MONDAY has been terrific lately - notice her powerful win from the 7-hole in the Lismore final two back - and she deserves top billing. (1) AGENT Q had no answer for the choice's dominant brush last time. The same exacta is quite likely of repeating here. (9) SOMEOMENSOMEWHERE should be fit for this test and last year's Breeders Crown winner is not outclassed in this company; beware. (8) BETTORS UP is getting good at the right time. She should make the ticket here despite the class rise.
Race 8
(2) HUNTSVILLE quite simply should dominate these, but he will be 1/9 on the board. (3) BECKHAMS Z TAM takes a big class jump here, but he is razor-sharp and may be good enough to complete this exacta. (8) MISO FAST was used up early in the Rooney final. He is capable of better and can close for a piece of this. (7) BEYOND DELIGHT was wildly over bet last week and he showed little. He has a habit of coming up big in the biggest races, so he could be worth a flyer here.
Race 9
(7) FEAR THE DRAGON keeps rolling right along and his ability to produce high, sustained speed while racing uncovered makes him a deserving chalk here. (6) OCEAN COLONY is improving quickly and it's not that hard to imagine Takter and Gingras engineering a slight upset here. (3) FILIBUSTER HANOVER looks next best and he can complete a chalky tri. (2) HURRICANE BEACH is getting hot at the right time, but he needs to drop another second here to get close to the top two.
Race 10
(5) LADY SHADOW is the queen of the castle in this division and she took her life's mark over this track last year in this race; top call. (1) WRANGLER MAGIC has been known to spring big upsets racing at this track. She might be a good backup on smaller Pick 4 tickets. (7) PRAIRIE SWEETHEART faces a stern test here, but she has always shown promise and ability and she can take a share. (4) WAASMULA will be passing some of these down the lane. Keep her in mind when making Tri and Super bets.
Race 11
(5) ROCKIN WIZARD was out in 27 and home in 27 1/5 when missing his life's mark by a tick last week. This field looks no tougher and he should be prominent throughout. (9) NICKLE BAG should be better this week and he may get better positioned early; using. (1) AUDREYS DREAM drops and he could get a great 2nd or 3rd-over trip here. Consider tossing him in the Pick 5. (2) BORDER CONTROL A raced well chasing a strong winner that was taking a big class drop last week. He could beat this prediction.
Race 12
(2) DINNER AT THE MET took a new life's mark after starting from the 10-hole last week. These are tougher, but he has won a Preferred at this meet already; call to repeat. (1) ERLE DALE N drops back to a level where he should be right in the mix; using. (6) MR WIGGLE PANTS has raced against some of the best aged pacers around recently with little success. He will likely try to go right down the road here and he would not be a big surprise in this spot. (3) ROCKIN IN HEAVEN also gets some class relief here. He is another that could take this highly contentious dash.
Race 13
(5) DAYLIGHT RUSH faces much easier company here and Drury is sure to send him; top call. (3) WAZZUP WAZZUP is coming back around quickly and he could pop at any time. (8) DRACHAN HANOVER paced a sub-54 back 1/2 vs. tougher last time. He should enter contention vs. these. (9) PAR INTENDED gets McNair here racing off the claim. He should be closing for a piece. (1) SURPRISE HANOVER is good for a slice, but is terribly win-shy most of the time.
