Mohawk: Horses to watch from Sept. 16 - Sept. 20

Ken Walters|Sep 24, 2014

Tuesday, September 16

TWOMICKEYTRIP (NW2) finished strongly at 28-1 in last in a quick :26 3/5 final panel over a speed favoring oval.

KEYSTONE TREVOR (NW2) pulled handily around trouble to the half, tucked, sat to the final bend, tipped again and roared by easily.

SPORTSKEEPER (OntSS) was parked to the lead, set the pace under long pressure, dug in gamely while tiring. Beaten favorite deserves another chance.

YS LOTUS (NW2) closed wide but late as the pacesetting winner got away. Has the late speed and should be along in time next outing.

PROTOEGE SEELSTER (CLMHCP12/15000) had just too far to come in last. Beaten favorite was very wide from 4th over and kept coming but it was too much to ask.

Thursday, September 18

SHOW TOPPER (CLMHCP8/10000) rallied from far back, lost cover when the lead changed at the third panel and continued gamely.

CUDA SIXTY SIX (NW15000/2-3YO) left and tucked, pulled to the half, challenged uncovered to the lane and tired.

MR LINDY (NW2) wired the field as jogburger last time leaving plenty in the tank.

VITAL SIGN (CLM15000) tucked twice along the route and dug in gamely to hold second.

Friday, September 19

WANNA ROCK N ROLL (NW14000FM) closed well from an impossible spot in last and earns a look in next race or two.

KG DRAGONATOR (NW3) closed gamely from second over in last and can take another.

LIGHTS GO OUT (PRF\FM) got her first call in last steps as she closed stoutly and such a late kick will not be 18-1 in next.

ITS NO SECRET (NW9000FM) was last one in the wide flow in the final turn and through the lane and gobbled up a lot of foes with fast finish.

Saturday, September 20

THUNDER SEELSTER (NW16000) left, tucked, pulled to the third panel, rushed up uncovered, challenged, could not handle the winner but was gamest for second in excellent effort.

DAPPER DUDE (PRF) went down the road and held stubbornly to the last steps but was nailed on the wire over a track that was cruel to pacesetters all night.

UPFRONT HOOSIERBOY (NW10000) set the pace to the lane, dug in stubbornly over a tiring track but weakened late.

REGALLY READY (OntSS) took an early tuck, pulled to the half, challenged hard uncovered to the stretch, took a short lead but was picked off at the wire but the late closing favorite.
