Mohawk: Horses To Watch for Sept. 13 - Sept. 17

Ken Walters|Sep 19, 2012

Thursday, September 13

HERES THE MAGIC (OntS3YO) Sat in to the stretch, found room, rallied well as the two favorites beat him home.

ONE MORE GINNY (NW2) Wired them by over five-lenghths and should be able to take another.

SWEET BET (CLM10000FM) Closed stoutly from the back of the pack on a speed favoring night.

PALM PATROL (CLMHCP10/15000/3YOFM) Roared home to win going away at 6-1 and should have no trouble repeating.

Friday, September 14

BURNIN MONEY (CLM15000) Finished full of trot chasing the favorite to the wire and has to earn a look in next.

SOUTHWIND TERROR (NW2/2YO) Got roughed up in last. Left from post 10, raced parked, pressed to the final turn, carried wide, settled and finished steadily.

FINAL CURTAIN (CLM10000) Finished with good speed after clearing too late. Beaten favorite should atone.

ST LADS PEEPER (NW8000FM) Was a distant fifth over by headstrech but gobbled up ground with :26.4 last panel.

Saturday, September 15

DROP THE BALL (MILTON) Angled out, cleared traffic and finished fast in her Milton elimination.

MONTE CRISTO (CLMHCP20/25000) Trailed to the lane, followed wide, hit overdrive in mid lane, finished fastest of all but had too far to come.

CLASSIC ROCK NROLL (PRF) Flashed good late foot from 4th over and has to be taken seriously in next race or two.

ALED HANOVER (NW5000) Was just too far back heading home to get it done. Beaten favorite was easily best through the lane but will have to wait a week to bring it home.

Monday, September 17

LONG LIVE ROCK (NW3) Had too much traffic to clear in last finding room a few steps too late.

STAR PHOTO (NW4) Battled to keep the lead the middle half, won the battle but had been softened up enough to lose the war. Look for a win in near future.

DOOWRAH OMELET (NW2) Rushed out, grabbed the lead, yielded and was shuffled back, raced 4th over the last quarter and finished well but had too far to come as the prohibitive favorite powered home.

COLLEGE MAJOR (NW2) Left and was bothered early, had to work to the top, set the pace under stern pressure in what looked like a rodeo stampede. Beaten favorite dug in gamely but it was too much to ask.
