Mohawk: Horses to watch from October 3 - October 7

Ken Walters|Oct 09, 2013

Thursday, October 3

SIR MACHALOT (NW1/3YO) Came wide into the lane with strong finish at 32-1 and earns a long look in next race or two.

R CHOOCHOOCHARLIE (2YO) Made a determined uncovered bid in last chasing and wearing down the odds-on favorite only to nipped on the wire by the tripped-out winner.

GRACEFUL BEAUTY (NW1/3YOF) Made a strong move through the lane from far, far back to get up for 2nd and should be considered.

LADY JAKE (NW2/2YOF) Went as far as she could on the front end on a night when the was faltering and should get it done over a more favorable track.

Friday, October 4

KINETIC KING (OntS) Sat relaxed and cool to the final turn, tipped, exploded home and used very little energy in impressive win.

TYMAL OH SO NICE (CLM15000) Left, tucked, sat to the lane, angled out and closed strongly to be second best.

DOUBLE DOWN GASS (OntS) Rushed along on the front end enjoying an open lead to the middle of the stetch, tired, dug in stubbornly and got nailed. Will not be caught over a more favorable track.

RAISE YOUR GLASS (OntS) Closed a ton from back of the pace and passed them all to get up on the wire.

Saturday, October 5

CROSBYS CLAM BAKE (NW3) Kept coming througth the stretch in game rally to the wire and just missed.

THEPANINULAHOTEL (NW85000) Rallied late and ran into traffic near the wire with a chance to split some horses and earn a better check. Do not ignore.

BAY OF SHARKS (NW8500) Was parked to the lead, set the pace under immediate pressure, shook it off by headstretch and drew away easily indicating another win is more than possible.

HARD TO MACH (NW5000) Left, tucked, saved in the quick fractions, improved at the third panel, swung out to follow cover and closed gamely in first back. Should be a factor in next few races.

Monday, October 7

ROCKNROLL HARMONY (NW2) Sat buried on the rail to the lane, tipped, roared home and beat all but the short priced favorite.

LENNON BLUE CHIP (NW5000) Seemingly had no shot but tipped from the back heading home and rallied all out and gamely to just miss.

SMARTY PANTS (NW13000) Left, tucked, sat pocket and had more than enough to win but had trouble getting through. Beaten favorite should bring it home in next.

OK GALAHAD (NW1/2YO) Tucked early, sat three-holed looking for his best route in three-horse rush to the wire. Tipped outside around two foes in the last steps and motored home. Should be able to take another.
