Mohawk: Horses to watch from October 10 - October 14

Ken Walters|Oct 16, 2013

Thursday, October 10

FRESH HERB (CLM8000) Left well, tucked, pulled with poor cover, rallied well but had too far to come. Should be along in time with live cover.

DANCE HALL WENDY (NW2) Pulled to the third panel, gained cover, rallied gamely but the odds-on favorite was too much. Next time, no such foe equals a win.

RG RIPTIDE (NW2) Was parked uncovered forever from post 10, came to the leader, pressed the pace to the third panel and gave way. Easier trip should be enough to get this one home.

SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK (NW2) Put in a good second over effort in last only to be outkicked on the wire by the late clearing pocket horse. Beaten favorite showed enough to stay with.

Friday, October 11

ILL BE THERE (CLM15000) Beaten favorite made a 3-move effort in last but came up a half length short. Should be able to earn the win in next.

JENNA CASIMIR (NW8000FM) Sat buried to the stretch, tipped, weaved around traffic, ducked in with game rally but had too far to come.

BOAT HOUSE ROW (NW3FM) Left well, yielded and was shuffled, sat in to the lane, cleared traffic with good finish but missed a neck in excellent effort.

JUST MAKE BELIEVE (NW2) Left to the top easily, set a steady clip and was much the best. Should be able to continue winning ways.

Saturday, October 12

CROSBYS CLAM BAKE (NW3) Stormed home from was back to win going away and is too sharp now to think he can't win another.

STRIKING LINDSEY (NW5000) Put in a game 3-move win in race full of action. Let, tucked, pulled after a shuffle, chased, tucked the pocket to the third panel, had the rail to the wire and despite tiring gamed it out. Gotta love the determination.

CAMAES FELLOW (PRF) Absolutely destroyed foes in last with punishing front end victory leaving gappers in his wake and will be hard to beat in present shape.

BEACH RUNNER A (NW8000) Left, tucked, got a bit of a shuffle and sat on the rail to the lane, tipped, hit his best stride too late but has to be considered in next race or two.

Monday, October 14

PRINCE CLYDE (NW2/2YO) Was used hard in dead game victory in last parked to the lead, faced pressure and gutted it out.

ANNUITY (NW5000) Came home quickly from an impossible 5th over in last out and earns a long look in next.

SANTANA ONE (NW2) Beaten favorite had too far to come in last but was moving well to the line in last on a speed favoring evening.

SHOCK N ROCK (NW1) Was all but airborne in last only to run out of racetrack and is about as close as you can get to a lock in next.
