Mohawk: Horses to watch from May 7 - May 11

Ken Walters|May 13, 2015

Thursday, May 7

F TWENTY TWO (CLMHCP12/15000) went down the road in quick order but was nailed on the wire. Fast stepper has to be given another chance in next.

DREAMFAIR BOGART (NW4000) finished well from the edge of the moon in last after falling far back at the beginning due to a break behind the gate.

MUCH ADOO (NW2FM) closed a tone to win going away over a speed favoring track and can take another.

ROYAL CANVAS (CLMHCP8/10000) followed wide from a distant fourth over in the final turn and finished full of pace but had much too far to come over a track where front end speed was holding well.

Friday, May 8

BEYONCES ROCKN (NW2FM) sat buried to the lane, tipped in traffic, wove through, found room, set down and closed strong.

BEACH GAL (PRFFM) had too far to come but closed a ton from a distant 4th over.

ROCK ME AMASTREOS (NW2500) set a pressed pace and drew off heading home.

HAIL THE TAXI (NW2500) came uncovered, challenged the top one and was proven second best.

CANBEC FRIDOLIN (CLMHCP12/15000) saved, rallied and was safely best of rest. Well connected old timer will find his spot.

Saturday, May 9

SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR (NW3FM) closed strongly at 50-1 but it was too far to come. Do not ignore.

WEST SIDE STORY (NW12000) had far to come, rallied in the final turn and through the stretch. Appeared to have it won but broke as he was going by. Beaten favorite should atone.

QUIT SMOKING NOW (NW7500) was parked for life, rallied gamely after challenging the entire mile but was gasping for breath in the late stages. Hard to deny with any kind of racing luck.

ATOMIC MILLION AM (NW18500) closed fastest of all in last but it was too much to ask.

Monday, May 11

ALFA MERSADIES (NW1) trail the final turn, followed wide and powered home to be second best.

THE SPY (NW2) took the top, yielded to the odds-on favorite and was second best at every call.

TEAM CAPTAIN (NW2) took the lead, yielded for the pocket and won as he pleased.

CHARMED LIFE (FM) prohibitive favorite had far to come and came up short. Should rebound quickly.
