Mohawk: Horses to watch from May 21 - May 25

Ken Walters|May 27, 2015

Thursday, May 21

HOPE FOR BADLANDS (NW2500) was buried to the lane, rallied with good pace in the middle of the track.

FRANNEY LOVE DAT (NW1FM) was huge at 11-1 and well connected lass has to earn respect off that big finish.

RATHER SWELL (NW2) gave it a good go with a give and go down the road effort but speed was not holding well that evening.

ETERNAL QUEST (NW1) set the pace under stern pressure from two rivals and could not last over a tiring track. Beaten favorite should atone soon.

GRONK (NW1) closed gamely from back of the pack through the lane and earns a look in next.

Friday, May 22

LOVELY ERIN (NW2FM) came uncovered and won going away at $.30 on the dollar looking primed for repeat.

UNIQUE ROCK N ROLL (NW2FM) did pretty much the same at nearly 5-1 and also looked primed for another.

NAT A VIRGIN (NW10000FM) had much to far to come in last but finished well. Beaten favorite will have to get more involved in early going but has the late kick.

INTENDED STYLE (CLM12/15000) brushed to the lead coming to the half, put in good front-stepping effort at 15-1 and needed only be a bit tighter to get it done.

Saturday, May 23

BOOMBOOM BALLYKEEL (NW7500) came home gamely rallying wide into the stretch.

VEGAS VACATION (PRF) closed well from third over and the :26 4/5 last panel cannot be ignored.

BILBO HANOVER (NW12000) rallied strongly uncovered, took the lead and jogged away leaving plenty in the tank.

MARLEE B (NW15000FM) had too far to come in last following the wide flow in the final turn but finished well enough to earn respect for next.

Monday, May 25

THE FIRE WITHIN (NW2) sat on the rail, raged with pace, squeezed clear, finished strong for second but was taken down.

BAX OF LIFE (NW18000) was buried on the rail, finshed full of trot from bad spot and earns look in next.

SPLIT THE HOUSE (NW2) finished with huge late kick to win going away and has to be respected in next.

LA BELLA ROSA (NW1) avoided early trouble, took a seat, pulled in the final turn, came wide, battled to the end, gamed out second to high flying finish of the odds-on favorite.
