Mohawk: Horses to watch from June 27 - July 1

Ken Walters|Jul 03, 2013

Thursday, June 27

ST LADS LOTTO (NW1) Was far, far back throughout, folowed wide into the lane, fanned very wide and finished well and he won't be 58-1 in next.

PART TIME LADY (CLMHCP8/10000) Left, took a short-lived lead, yielded but was shuffled to the three-hole when the winner made the top, sat to the stretch, angled out with best rally of all but the beaten favorite had too far to come.

THORN IN YOUR SIDE (OntSS/NW1) Brushed to the half, took the top and was a well bet best in most recent and should repeat.

BRINGHOME THEBLUE (OntSS) This 2yo chased the winner home with a game rally and never stopped trying missing only a half lenghth.

Friday, June 28

MIA SEELSTER (NW8000FM) Sat pocket at 50-1 to the overwhelming favorite, rallied gamely all the way to the wire and just missed by a narrowing head.

STEADY WARRIOR (OntSS) Made a huge wide brush coming past the half, stormed to the lead, opened up daylight but tired. The move was a winning move but a touch too soon?

HOUSE MONEY (NW5000) Was third best on the board and on the track as the two well bet favorites finished one-two. Should be able to find his own field soon.

HIDDEN IDENTITY (NW5000) Finished with a flurry between horses to nail last race on the wire. Seemed to have plenty left and a follow up win seems probable.

Saturday, June 29

BLACKBIRD SINGING (CLMHCP15/20000) Was third over behind a gapper to the lane, came wide, closed stoutly but had too far to come.

GUTSY GREG (NW3) Had the early pocket, got shuffled when the lead changed and got in tight. Got shuffled further in the lane as the speed gave way, angled out, rallied but got moving too late.

WAASMULA (PRF/FM) Came wide into the lane, finished powerfully but was nailed by the unbelievable rally of the odds-on favorite. She should be along in time against almost any other field.

TOP GEAR (NW25000) Followed the wide flow from an impossible 5th over and finished full of pace but it was too much to ask.

Monday, July 1

LIFEIMITTATESART (NW5000) Had much to far to come in last but made a valiant try at 21-1 only to be necked by a faster closing foe.

E W FISHER (PRF) Went down the road on a night not made for speed and only missed by 1 1/2 lengths to the two favorites. Do not ignore in next race or two.

MACHAROUNDTHECLOCK (OntSS) Was stung just enough gaining control lose it in the last steps in frontstepping effort over a tiring track. Beaten favorite will atone.

BURNIN MONEY (NW13000) Gave a valiant down the road bid in last only to be nipped on the money by the tripped out short priced favorite.
