Mohawk: Horses to watch from June 25 to June 30

Ken Walters|Jul 01, 2015

Thursday, June 25

KIKISKISSINKOUSIN (CLMHCP8/10000FM) sat pocket, searched for room, found it late, took a few urgings before she got in gear, stepped it up but it was too late.

CAPELA (NW2FM) ah Capela! she supplied her own pace and put them away with a strong finish.

FRANNEY LOVE DAT (NW2FM) this `Zeron zone' lady sat at the rear, hit overdrive in the lane with late but willing finish. Do not ignore.

KAYS SHADOW (2YOF) retook, set the pace under pressure the last quarter and proved best with impressive finish.

Friday, June 26

HOMEN DRY (NW2) beaten favorite closed from too far back to get it done in last but was easily best of all in the lane.

RIDE AWAY SHARK (NW2FM) wired the field drawing away as much the best leaving plenty for next victims.

CALL ME MAYBE (NW3FM) grinded up a long way chasing the pacesetting favorite and earned second best honors in last.

THE GRAND FILLY (NW2) beaten favorite challenged uncovered in last on a night when speed was holding and paid the price.

Saturday, June 27

RATHER SWELL (NW2) was bothered badly in the first turn, had to come uncovered, grinded all the way, challenged, took the lead, dug in but was nailed by the fresher late closing winner coming through the raindrops.

MAGIC MADNESS (NW3) finished with a full head of steam navigating through a crowded stretch and nearly got it done.

APPRENTICE HANOVER (NW13000) beaten favorite was victimized by a parked-the-mile trip in last but challenged to the third panel before giving way. Should be able to atone soon.

RESISTANCE FUTILE (NW7500) was bothered turn one by a breaker, got parked the mile, challenged to the last steps, had aim but was nailed by the fresh legs of the pocket sitter.

Monday, June 29

ABSOLUTELY OFFICIAL (NW2) followed wide and closed strongly but the winner had gotten the jump on him.

WINDSONG LEO (OntSS) had pace in traffic, closed steadily and could get a better check in next.

DEETZY (NW1) finished with a flurry but had too far to come.

ETRUCIAN HANOVER (PRFHCP) put in a game uncovered bid in last but was nipped on the wire by a fast-closing upset winner.

Tuesday, June 30

ARSENIC (2YO) proved to be pure poison as he paced strong sprinting through the lane to win in debut posting a :26 1/5 last panel.

BLACK WIDOW BABY (NW1/3YOF) beaten favorite finished well from second over but could not get there. Do not ignore in next race.

ETERNAL QUEST (OntSS) dug in gamely to earn second in five-horse test through the deep stretch and earns a long look.

MARKET STRIKE (NW1/3YO) won third straight showing no signs of slowing down and has to be considered the one to beat in next.

AUGUSTUS MCCREA (NW1/3YO) sprinted home quickly from the back of the pack in last to get up for second to streaking winner and earns look in next race or two.
