Mohawk: Horses To Watch for June 21 - June 25

Ken Walters|Jun 27, 2012

Thursday, June 21

KING PETE (CLM10000) Suffered broken equipment in last but launched a mad rush home through the lane and this beaten favorite should atone.

UNRED HANOVER (NW2FM) Rallied gamely and very wide from 4th over to nail the speed on a wet night and should be able to score again.

RACHEL WELCH (2YOF) Managed to find room late but it was just a second too late for her to hit her best stride.

MODERN IMAGE (OntS2YOF) Tried to wire, battled a short priced favorite to the end but despite stubborn gamenesss she could not last. She should find the winners circle in next race or two.

Friday, June 22

MINDSWEEPER (NW4FM) Raced second over to the stretch, tried to rally but was twice forced to alter her course just enough to lose momentum and the beaten favorite earns another look.

STAR PHOTO (NW3) Trotter went down the road and second best in the lane to the pocket sitter. Moreau-Filion connection always rebounds.

MACH PRIDE (2YOCG) Made a bold move through the stretch and just missed. The :26.2 last panel has to earn this beaten favorite another chance.

RUB N TUG (NW17000FM) Sat in the pocket looking for racing room. Angled out, got moving too late and can be a threat in next race or two.

CATMAN (CLMHCP12/15000) Post nine was unlucky for this one in last. He got parked, pressed the pace, took up, found no tuck and was forced to stay the course. Stayed lcose to mid lane before tossing in his cards.

Saturday, June 23

MUSSELSFRMBRUSSELS (NW8300) Lukewarm favorite was parked and roughed up in last, pressed the pace the middle half, gave way heading home.

ILLUSIONSNDREAMS (CLMHCP20/30000) Angled very wide in the lane, set down with willing finish but had wandered too far before setting down.

STOLEN CAR (NW4) Got shuffled to doomsday and had too far to come in the lane. Rallied well between horses outkicking many foes and should be taken seriously in next.

ULTRA JIMMY (BEATHEAT) Left quickly, set a good clip, kept pacing to the wire as the odds-on favorite rallied from a tripped out second over. This one will not be 60-1 in next leg.

Monday, June 25

DUKESTAR (NW4) Got parked forever, prompted the pace to the third panel, gave way early stretch.

MACHMAN (NW1) Sat in to the lane, cleared, closed well but the winner had gotten away. The beaten favorite has the kick and needs only to be closer heading home.

DUE WEST HANOVER (NW2) Was kicking up dirt through the lane but just missed a tiring well bet favorite. The move cannot be discounted but he won't be 78-1 in next.

PANTHER HANOVER (NW2) This variant buster was totally shut down and tons the best in last down the road jogburger and should continue to impress.
