Mohawk: Horses to watch from July 6 - July 11
Thursday, July 6
P L LAYLA (OntSS) tucked, settled as early breakers scattered, went to the lead and that was that in latest outing.
MANCEIVER and SPORTS COWBOY (NW2) both had willing pace and good finish once they cleared serious traffic into the stretch and both earn a good look in next.
FIRST CAR (NW29000) romped by 10 in last and will be heard from again and again if that was any indication.
DRY CREEK LIS (CLM15000FM) had strong finish from far back and got up for second.
Friday, July 7
BRITTLE (CLM15000FM) wired the field impressively in last romp on a night when speed was failing and earns a long look in next few.
NINETTE B (NW6300FM) took the lead, yielded, got shuffled, came uncovered to challenge the second favorite, wore her down and held off the favorite's late effort to earn her victory.
SANDBETWEENURTOES (NW29000FM) brushed to the lead passing the half, weakened in the lane and lost to the pocket horse. Beaten favorite can win with this move most nights.
SOLID QUEEN (NW3000FM) closed well from second over in latest, comes from winning barn and will snag a win in next race or two.
Saturday, July 8
OHO DIAMOND (NW13000) got away slowly and was buried on the rail to the third panel, tipped, followed wide and closed very gamely.
KIWI FOCUS (NW16500FM) left to the lead, yielded, got shuffled, tipped heading home and rallied all out and game.
MAGNUM FELLA (NW6) romped on the front end in last by a widening margin and looms as a repeat winner.
FLANAGAN MEMORY (PRF) was bothered behind the gate, missed the start by a few steps, settled back, tipped to the three quarters, went wide and made up good ground for second best.
Monday, July 10)
NASTY RUMOR (NW2FM) went off at 48-1 and was nowhere to be seen until mid lane when she angled out, set down and rallied fast, seemed to have a shot to pull off a stunner when she broke stride. Do not disregard.
SOUTHWIND TESLA (NW2) tucked early, pulled to the half, brushed to the lead, set a quick third panel and was never in doubt.
BUGGER BRUISER (NW4500) was buried to the lane, angled clear, found his best stride too late but closed with a rush.
NORTHERN STARLIGHT (NW2) was in a poor flow of cover but closed with good energy once into gear. Beaten favorite deserves another look.
Tuesday, July 11
MANOFMANYIMAGES (NW4000) tucked, tipped past the half, stormed to the top and waved goodbye.
APHRO STAR (CLM20000) was parked early behind poor cover, went wide, rallied to the lead, met pressure twice, held gamely while tiring and was caught by the much fresher pocket horse.
SUMMER TRAVEL (2YO) wired the field convingingly in debut and should be tough to catch in next.
APRIL ROSE (NW8000) rushed to the top, set a quick pace and was much the best.
