Mohawk: Horses To Watch for July 5 - July 9

Ken Walters|Jul 11, 2012

Thursday, July 5

CARLY HOLLYWOOD (NW2FM) Kept coming through the lane chasing the favorite to the wire. She won't be 60-1 in next but deserves a look.

BRUSH WITH ROYALTY (CLM10000FM) Made a wide bold move in the final turn to loom through the lane but flattened out nearing the wire.

PAPER BACKED LINDY (NW1/3YO) Launched a stout rally through the lane won going away.

NORTHERN KENDRA (NW2) Finished fast but late rushing past all but the winner in the lane.

Friday, July 6

JUSTASMALLTOWNGIRL (NW2FM) Finished with a full head of steam but was second best on the board and at the wire.

MACH PRIDE (OntSSGold) Had little chance in a poor outer flow but launched a strong late rush to nail 3rd.

STRIKE AN ATTITUDE (OPENFM) Got buried to the lane, angled clear and set down with a huge finish but was too late.

SECRETSOTHERNEPHEW (CLMHCP15/25000) Beaten favorite had aim on more but was bothered by a bullish foe and lost her momentum.

Saturday, July 7

THATLL BE FRANNY ((NW13000FM) Sat on the rail with nowhere to go but seemed more than willing to go somewhere--if she found room.

THE LADIES MAN (BEATHEAT) Finished strongly from an impossible spot coming very wide from the clouds to lose the final to a 64-1 bomb.

DAY TO PONDER (NW5000FM) Got locked in between horses to the last steps in very costly traffic jam. She appeared to have enough to get the win.

CLASSIC ROCK NROLL (PRF) Kept coming in game rally from third over. Could have taken it if the winner flinched even a bit.

Monday, July 9

SWEET GESTURE (OntS) Beaten favorite finish fastest of all but had much too far to come.

COCO LINDY (NW15000) Crushed the field in last and can repeat with any effort remotely resembling that effort.

OK EBURY (OntS) Cleared late, finished with good pace and the Moreau trained 3YO should be a threat against most.

I D K (CLMHCP10/12000) Went down the road in last and had an open lead until the shadow of the wire. Tired, dug in stubbornly but was nailed on the money. Can be just as hard to catch in next.
