Mohawk: Horses to watch from July 20 - July 25
Thursday, July 20
ALARM DETECTOR (2YO) was parked to the lead and never looked back.
ONLYTHETUFFSURVIVE (NW2500) closed fast from the back of the pack in last.
BURNING MIDNIGHT (OntSS) left, tucked, got shuffled, pulled, brushed and that was that.
TUXEDO BAY (NW2) brushed to the lead to the half and put in a solid effort only to be second best to the big closing odds-on favorite.
Friday, July 21
BORDER CONTROL (NW6000) left, tucked, sat in and found room too late.
SHEWEARSTHEPANTS (OntSS) brushed and crushed winning the way a prohibitive favorite is supposed to win.
BURNING SHORE (NW6000) sat to the rear, had serious early stretch traffic, cleared late finishing quite willingly.
FOREVER LISA (NW25000FM) put in a nifty :26.4 last panel enroute to a second place finish to the odds-on favorite.
WIGGLE IT J (NW10000FM) closed strongly once more and the beaten favorite gets another chance.
Saturday, July 22
DARCEE N (NW9000) had far to come but closed best of all picking off numerous foes.
P L IDAHO (NW20000) rushed wide in the final turn and closed a ton to be second best.
THE JOY LUC CLUB (OntSS) was under an early hold raging to go, tipped when the speed settled and brushed to command proving to be quite the impressive winner.
CLARION HALL (OntSS) left, tucked, found room inside heading home and closed well but the pacesetting winner was best.
Monday, July 24
PERCY BLUECHIP (OntSSGold) made a strong move to the lead when the speed settled and was a very impressive winner. She is now 2-for-2 and the future is very bright.
VESUVIO BI (OntS) rushed up uncovered and came home gamely but the winner had rated the middle fractions and held well. This beaten favorite perhaps moved a bit too late.
BIG TSUNAMI (NW6000FM) was third best with good stretch pace and will find her own field.
LOOKSLIKEACHPNDALE (NW13000) had far to come but did so showing no quit. Beaten favorite should not be ignored in last.
Tuesday, July 25
APPRENTICE M (OntSS) had poor cover as the leader breezed along, came wide, rallied gamely as the pace slowed and ran out of track.
CHARMED LIFE (PRF) trotter was third over in a poor flow and finished full of speed with a huge last panel of :26 1/5.
CHARMBO ORBIT (CLMHCP10/15000) was nowhere to be seen and charged home from last to just miss.
LABERO (NW1) was uncovered a long way, challenged to the stretch and tired.
