Mohawk: Horses to watch for August 9 - August 13

Ken Walters|Aug 15, 2012

Thursday, August 9

ANGIES LUCKY STAR (2YOF) Was in striking distance with a chance to take it all when wiped out heading home and the beaten favorite deserves another look.

HOBSONS CHOICE (BRIDGER) Made three moves scoring in his Bridger division in last and earns respect in next go round.

WINDSUN T BIRD (CLMHCP10/12000FM) Rallied well through traffic in last and could be along in time with better trip and more direct route to the wire.

MISS SPARTA (CLMHCP15/20000FM) Rallied gamely between horses to chasing the fast closing favorite home.

Friday, August 10

LETS ROCK TOGETHER (2YO) Closed stoutly chasing the odds-on favorite to the wire and earns some votes in next effort.

ONE MORE GINNY (OntSS) Left well, took a tuck, pulled and brushed, took command cruised home in grand style.

FERRARI SENA (GIRLSNIGHT) Took the top with quick lead, yielded, sat pocket. Got stuck in traffic through the lane and never had a chance to fire her best shot.

BRUISERS SISTER (OntS) She got caught behind a quitting horse in the final turn, searched for room, found it too late to launch her best bid and deserved a better fate.

Saturday, August 11

THE LADIES MAN (NW28000) Got shuffled behind a tired foe the final turn, closed well between horses but had lost his best chance.

HIGHLAND YANKEE (NW3) Closed stoutly in winning rally and should be able to find way to winners circle again.

FORECLOSURE N (OPEN) Was buried to the lane, angled out and closed with a rush but had too far to come and the two well favorites to catch.

BIGTIME BALL (OPEN) Charged out from the 10-hole open with amazing speed, hit the first timer in :26.1, gave up the lead to sit pocket passing the quick half, flattened by the lane battling open company but should be more dangerous facing own kind.

Monday, August 13

SWEET COLT OF MINE (OntSS) Put in one of the gamest races a 2YO can put in. He was parked every step of the way and dug in gamely to hold on for second and did not seem to be as exhausted as he would have a right to be.

MCKINNEY (OntSS) Closed well from third over but the two short-priced favorites were not going to be caught or split. This fellas should find his own field.

SOMBRERO HALL (OntSS) Went down the road in game effort over a tiring track and held stubbornly for second.

JUST HENRY (OntSS) Sat in, angled out in the lane and closed with good speed but had too far to come and not enough time to get it done.
