Mohawk: Horses to watch from Aug. 31 - Sept. 5

Ken Walters|Sep 07, 2017

Thursday, August 31

FIRESTORM (2YOF) wired the field and was wrapped up the way an odds-on favorite should be.

BLONDE MAGIC (CHAMPLAIN) came wide in the final turn and almost pulled a 28-1 rabbit out the hat with determined late rally but ran out of track just missing the tiring favorite.

ZLATAN (NW2) came uncovered the final turn and won going away. Should be tough to beat in next.

P L JASMINE (CLM15000FM) went down the roaad to the last step in game effort losing to the inside game rally of the favorite.

Friday, September 1

DRY SILD FLOWERS (OntSS) got off slowly into the first turn, shied at a breaker, took a bad step, settled to the back, rallied wide in the final turn and kept coming picking up numerous foes in game finish.

YOU KNOW YOU DO (Champlain) absolutely jogged in his division of the Champlain and should be tough for a while.

SHOWER PLAY (OntSS) yielded, retook and humbled her foes in wicked mile.

BOURBON SEELSTER (NW18500FM) tucked twice along the way, rallied gamely through the lane and will be tough with better trip.

Saturday, September 2

FINE DIAMOND (NW20000) grinded up uncovered, gained cover late in the last turn, rallied gamely but the pocket horse got there first.

TRUMP THAT (Champlain) went to the lead, yielded and was shuffled, lacked clearance when needed but rallied well when he found a late seam.

SOTHWIND DIESEL (NW3) went down the road and held strongly.

HES A SENSATION (NW15500) was second over, hit stride too late but finished in :26 4/5.

Monday, September 4

PRETTY HANSOM (OntSS) took the lead, yielded, sat pocket and rolled home once into the lane.

ST LADS NEPTUNE (OntSS) tucked early, pulled and came uncovered powering by to win going away.

CABERTOSS (NW4000) was third over behind a dead piece, had to go wide but finished full of trot.

WHEN YOU DANCE (OntSS) tucked early, got shuffled badly, escaped too late but finished strong.

Tuesday, September 5

ARTIFACT HANOVER (2YO) was a three move winner in last and those things have to be respected.

KAMMERAN HANOVER (NW3) brushed to command after the speed settled, met two determined challengers, put them both away and will be tough to down.

P L JERICO (NW8000) wired the field impressively in last and can take another.

BO MACH (2YO) sa tin the pocket ready but never cleared in most recent outing.
