Mohawk: Horses To Watch for Aug. 30 - Sept. 3

Ken Walters|Sep 06, 2012

Thursday, August 30

MAKE SOME MEMORIES (NW1/2YOF) Young miss flashed some modest late foot through the lane and could be hard to handle in next race or two.

PETITIE COURAGEUSE (CLMHCP10/15000FM) Beaten co-favorite had too far to come in last but roared home to earn a look in future.

CHARISMA HANOVER (NW2/2YOF) Late closing youngster was a beaten favorite but not by much as she waited a step too long to launch her bid.

YUMMY SUSHI (NW4FM) Left, tucked, sat in to the lane, angled out of the three-hole, carried wide with all out rally but could not get there over a speed favoring track.

Friday, August 31

REVEN UP (NW2) Sat pocket to the stretch, angled out of traffic and finished with a rush but it was too late.

KEYSTONE JUBILEE (CLMHCP25/35000FM) Searched for room, found none when it counted but finished steadily.

CHARMBO TIE (NW5000) Just missed on the front end on a bad night for speed while 70-1. It was a gallant effort so do not ignore from outside.

EXQUISITE ALBERTA (CLMHCP25/35000FM) Pulled the pocket, challenged the final quarter and rolled home. Similar effort would be hard to fault.

Saturday, September 1

ROCIANTE (CLMHCP20/30000) Had all the worst of it in last. Got parked and raced uncovered, challenged the middle half while escorting the winner around the track and tired.

CLASSIC ROCK NROLL (PRF) Proved gamest in three horse stretch battle to the wire and would be no surprise in the winners circle again.

TARPON HANOVER (METRO) Had too much traffic to clear in the Metro consolation to give it his best shot.

ARACACHE HANOVER (CNDPACING) He was 56-1 and left from post nine. Got parked, challenged the stubborn pacesetter who refused to yield as the two dueled to the fastest ever 1/2 mile at Mohawk.

Monday, September 3

SMOKEYS LUCK (CLMHCP10/12000) Closed a ton, won going away and should be hard to beat once again.

ANDOVER AMERICA (PRF) Finished with a flourish but had much too far to come.

LONG FIGHT HANOVER (NW1) Beaten favorite rallied wide as cover weakened, closed in gamely but the winner had gotten away.

TEMPTATION BAYAMA (NW2) Closed well from second over chasing the two well bet favorites home. Should find his own field soon.
