Mohawk: Horses to watch from Aug. 10 - Aug. 15

Ken Walters|Aug 16, 2017

Thursday, August 10

TIGERS WAY (NW2) sat near the back, rallied some in the final turn, hit the stretch and finished with huge rally but had too far to come.

CHEAP THRILLS (NW1FM) was off slowly, had to come third over behind a dull flow, swung wide, rushed home and won going away.

SHARP ACTION MONEY (OntSS) beaten favorite had all the worst of it, rallied strongest but the winner had gotten away.

MS MILLER (OntSS) was parked forever to get the engine, set a pressed pace, rebuffed the challenge and dug in gamely to earn her win.

STAND FOR JUSTICE (OntSS) was in the three-hole and a bit tentative pulling, lost a step on the winner, managed to get out cleanly and closed strongly.

Friday, August 11

KADABRA QUEEN (OntSS) broke before the start and lost any chance...or so it seemed. She sat to the rear to the final turn ,swung wide, finished strong and earns a long look in next.

SWENSSON (NW2) finished full of trot but had far to come.

WRANGLER MAGIC (PRF/FM) beat favorite sat in the pocket and had clearance problems to the last steps.

RUBIS PRESCOTT (NW11000FM) was behind a gapper, lost time and ground, finished well and willing but too late.

Saturday, August 12

WIGGLE IT J (NW15000FM) sat in with willing pace as she searched through the lane.

ACTION MAJESTY (NW15000FM) was in traffic until the last steps should be tough in next.

MAJOR HILL (NW20000) set a good pace at 20-1 under pressure from the uncovered favorite and gutted out his payday on a track that was not kind to frontsteppers.

NICKLE BAG (NW10000) yielded, retook, set a pressed pace and was nailed in the last step. Beaten favorite should atone in next.

Monday, August 14

MUSICAL SPELL (NW4000) trotter was buried to the lane, found room and closed well at 76-1.

EXPOSE YOURSELF (OntSS) was parked uncovered a long way, challenged to the final turn and tired at 59-1.

MISS COCO LUCK (NW3000FM) was wide into the lane and closed well from far back.

WHOLE LOT OF SUGAR (OntSS) brushed to the top past the quarter, opened up but tired. Should be tight enough to win in next race or two.

Tuesday, August 15

ROCK THIS WAY (NW3) rushed up uncovered and powered by for impressive score.

CHOCOLATE BISKIT (NW3) left to the top, yielded got shuffled when speed tired, came on gamely to get back for 2nd.

CATCH THE DREAM (NW13000) had poor cover second over, finally had to go wide, cleared, challenged and took the lead, tired but gutted it out to the last step. Beaten favorite can atone with decent trip.

WINNING LYRIC (NW1) brushed and crushed and can take another.
