Mohawk: Horses to watch from Apr. 23 - Apr. 27

Ken Walters|Apr 29, 2015

Thursday, April 23

MASSIVE MUSCLES (NW4000) got an early shuffle, came uncovered ,challenged, had aim but had to settle for second when the favored winner charged home.

BUCHSHOT AUSTIN (CLMHCP8/10000) broke twice in the early going, sat at the rear, began a move late in the final turn, rushed up, went wide and closed well but had much too far to come before flattening late.

TAILWIND HANOVER (NW1FM) beaten favorite was game late closing second to reach the lead but faltered in the shadow of the wire. Do not ignore as she seeks to atone.

LADY PING (NW1) was wide into the final turn, forced to make it 4-wide, rallied gamely but the winner had gotten away.

TWIN B TK (NW1) took the lead, yielded and was shuffled, rallied gamely to earn second and earns a look in next race or two.

Friday, April 24

TYMAL COLOSSUS (CLMHCP12/15000) was parked the mile following the winner, rallied gamely while tiring and shortening stride mid lane.

BIG PACKAGE (CLMHCP12/15000) was parked the mile far back, came wide in the final turn, rallied to the lane, kept coming and earned his second place finish.

LIGHTS GO OUT (NW3300FM) was parked the mile uncovered, could not handle the speedy pacesetting winner but held second to the last steps in gutty performance.

OCEANA (NW2) broke at the start and took back, rallied the last quarter following wide into the lane and finished strongest of all but had too much ground to make up.

MAPLETEA (PRINCESS) finished powerfully from an impossible spot as the second favorite and will be heard from earlier in next.

Saturday, April 25

ARTISTIC MADISON (NW4FM) stormed home from back of the pack but the winner had gotten away. Beaten favorite should be tough to keep down in next.

RECKON IM READY (NW7500) finished full of trot in last at 17-1 and would be no surprise in next.

CHAMPAGNE SHOWER (NW6000FM) rushed up uncovered and blew by easily much the best.

BODY BALANCE (NW4) left to the top, yielded and was badly shuffled, looked for room in the lane, found it, stormed home but too late.

Monday, April 27

CAMS TUX (NW4000) was parked the mile in last and closed gamely as the leader tired. A better trip might be all it takes.

SOUTHWIND WARSAW (PRF) finished well at 47-1 in last and earns some looks next outing.

CATCH THE DREAM (NW18000) nearly did in last with strong rally between horses but it was a step or two late. Cannot be ignored.

CLOSING CREDITS (NW3) unleashed one heck of a bombastic finish to win going away at 30-1 in last and looms as short priced repeater.

MAJOR HOMER (CLMHCP20/30000) was parked the mile in last, challenged uncovered the five-eights, tired but did not go away until the stretch.
