Mohawk: Horses to watch from Apr. 20 - Apr. 24

Ken Walters|Apr 26, 2017

Thursday, April 20

SOUTHWIND DEISEL (NW1) brushed and crushed in last and should take another.

WALTER MITTY (NW2) battled tooth and nail through the late stages but was second best on the board and track to the pacesetting favorite.

THE SECOND STAR (NW1FM) finished full of pace from a far away place at 32-1 in last but just missed.

CLEAR IDEA (NW2FM) left, tucked, pulled to the half, raced third over in the fog over the sloppy track and fnished well at 23-1 but the odds-on favorite had tripped out in the pocket.

Friday, April 21

ART ANGEL BABY (NW4FM) raced third over and closed strong but too late in most recent outing.

LADY PING (NW4000) finished full of trot from far away and earns long look in next.

DAZZLING ROCETTE (NW15000FM) roared home wide and strong to win going away and should take another.

PRETTY HOT (NW6000FM) scorched the track and burned her foes in huge front-stepping victory in latest.

Saturday, April 22

JINS SHARK (NW6000) brushed as the speed settled, met a stern test the last quarter but was much the best in quick time.

LIGHTS GO OUT (NW10000FM) found her legs and a seam a step too late but should go well in next race or two.

AMERICAN VIRGIN (PRF) beaten favorite was parked the mile challenging hard and should atone with any kind of decent trip.

PAPARAZZI HANOVER (NW9000) went down the road over a tiring track and tired in the late stages. Will give it another try next race or two.

Monday, April 24

SOUTHWIND MASIMO (NW4000) beaten favorite broke before the start and lost any chance but finished from the moon with strong stretch rally to nail second place and will atone soon.

CHARMBO ORBIT (CLMHCP8/10000) got off slow, disdained an early seat on the rail, tipped wide and paced strong uncovered to engage the leader, battled to the lane and tired. Should find an easier trip to his liking.

DOVUTO HANOVER (CLMHCP18/25000) got off slowly, finished very fast. Comes from solid barn and will get it done.

HUGHGETTHECREDIT (CLM20000) left, tucked, pulled to the third panel and closed well to be a game second to the pacesetting favorite.
