New Image Media Bee A Magician has 14 wins in 17 career starts.

Bee A Magician and Angies Lucky Star both scored decisive victories in their respective eliminations for this year’s Elegantimage Stakes on Friday night at Mohawk Racetrack.

Bee A Magician, Canada’s top two-year-old filly from 2012, got the upper hand in the first elimination, over To Dream On, who was crowned the US rookie trotting filly of the year from last season.

To Dream On (Yannick Gingas) took immediate control from the start as the bay marched past the opening station in :26 4/5, with Princess Lilly (Mario Baillargeon) in the pocket and Quiet Snow (Ron Pierce) third.

To Dream On would continue to lead past the middle-half in 56 1/5 and 1:25 2/5.

Bee A Magician, driven by Rick Zeron, would begin the first-over attack around the final turn and was matching strides with the tempo-setter past the third marker, before the bay dashed away from To Dream On down the stretch en route to a 1:53 3/5 score. Princess Lilly converted off a pocket trip to finish second with To Dream On fading to third.

Trained by Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman from owners Melvin Hartman, Herb Liverman, and David McDuffee, Bee A Magician increased her bankroll to $906,020. The daughter of Kadabra-Beehive now remains undefeated in four starts this season.

She paid $2.60.

One race later, Angies Lucky Star defeated the heavily-favored Shared Past in 1:53 1/5 for driver Sylvain Filion.

The daughter of Angus Hall led from start to finish through panels of :27 2/5, :57 and 1:24 3/5, before dashing away from her rivals to score the victory by four lengths. Shared Past (Yannick Gingras), who came first-over past the half, finished second, ahead of Handover Belle (Mike Lachance).

Trained by Richard Moreau for owners Trevor Henry Stables Inc. and Estate Of Daniel McCann, Angies Lucky Star celebrated a new lifetime best as her bankroll increased to $172,792. The bay has crafted a 2-1-1 from four starts this season.

She paid $12.

The $380,000 Elegantimage Final will go postward on Saturday, June 15 as part of Pepsi North America Cup night at Mohawk. Both of the elimination winners were able to select their post position for the final.
