Modest business gains at Golden Gate summer meet
Golden Gate Fields showed slight gains in handle for both for its live races and from all sources for the 19-day summer meeting, which ran from Aug. 21-Oct. 4 with a two-week break for the San Joaquin Fair meet at Stockton.
Ontrack handle for live racing increased 2 percent, from $2,486,228 during the 19-day 2014 meeting to $2,540,556 for 2015. Total all-sources betting on Golden Gate's races, including advance-deposit and out-of-state wagering, increased 3 percent, from $23,942,753 in 2014 to $24,643,630 this year. Betting on all races offered through Golden Gate and its satellites, including simulcasts, increased 4 percent.
Total attendance at the track was 36,786, an increase of less than 1 percent from last year.
