Mobil Bonnet takes to turf in Cincinnatian Stakes

Mobil Bonnet, making both her stakes and turf debut, powered clear to a two-length victory in the $75,000 Cincinnatian Stakes on Saturday at Belterra Park.
Mobil Bonnet ($8.80), under Jarred Journet, was fourth, and about 3 1/2 lengths back, with just over a quarter-mile remaining in the Cincinnatian, as Mandi's Pride, who broke from the inside post, took the field past the six-furlong mark in 1:12.92. Mobil Bonnet rallied to split horses between the stubborn Mandi's Pride on the inside and favored No Truer, pulling clear in the final stages. She finished the 1 1/16 miles in 1:46.18.
Birdacious edged the tenacious Mandi's Pride by a neck for second, with the pacesetter nosing out No Truer for third.
Mobil Bonnet races as a homebred for Mapleton Thoroughbred Farm, which stands her sire, Mobil. Trained by Jennifer Tooley, the filly has now won three of five career starts; the Cincinnatian was her stakes debut.
Earlier on the card, Diamond Dust posted a 4 1/2-length victory in the $75,000 Horizon Stakes for Ohio-bred juveniles.
Favored Diamond Dust ($4.80), under jockey Luis Colon, had assumed command by the midway point of the 5 1/2-furlong race and drew off as he pleased from there, finishing in 1:05.54. Drillit was second by a length over Going With Style.
Diamond Dust races as a homebred for the partnership of WinStar Farm and trainer Tim Hamm. The gelded son of young WinStar stallion Paynter is now 2 for 2 after breaking his maiden last month at Belterra.
