Mo Town returns to worktab, points to Gotham Stakes
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Mo Town, who won the Grade 2 Remsen at Aqueduct in November, returned to the work tab Friday at Payson Park as he begins preparations for his 3-year-old campaign.
According to trainer Tony Dutrow, Mo Town worked a half-mile in 50.60 seconds over the dirt surface at Payson Park, a training center in Indiantown, Fla.
“All is very good,” Dutrow said. “The horse is happy. I wanted to get started today. He did it matter-of-factly.”
It was Mo Town’s first breeze since his 2 1/2-length victory in the Remsen. Dutrow said he is pointing Mo Town to the Grade 3, $350,000 Gotham Stakes over Aqueduct’s inner track on March 4.
Dutrow said Mo Town was kept in light training at Payson Park in December, jogging and galloping every other day.
“Mo Town really likes it here at Payson,” Dutrow said. “He’s doing fantastic. The racetrack is good.”
Mo Town, a son of Uncle Mo, has won two of his three starts. Following his maiden victory, a majority interest in Mo Town was purchased by Coolmore. Dutrow’s Team D Stables maintained a minority interest in the colt.
