Mizzen Beau well clear in Bison City, second leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Mizzen Beau went straight to the front under Steven Bahen and kept on going to give trainer Norm Casse his first Woodbine winner in Saturday’s $250,000 Bison City Stakes.
Mizzen Beau ($19.10) set honest fractions in the 1 1/16-mile event, the second leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara, a series for Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies. Infinite Patience stalked outside in second, while 4-5 favorite Afleet Katherine raced in mid-pack along the inside in the eight-horse field.
Mizzen Beau opened up a comfortable lead on the far turn, and then drew off in the lane to prevail by 4 3/4 lengths in a time of 1:44.35.
After making her way through traffic, Afleet Katherine rallied to edge out New York shipper Truth Hurts for second. Gun Society closed wide from last for fourth.

Mizzen Beau was coming off a troubled fourth in the first leg of the series, the Woodbine Oaks.
“She broke real sharp,” Bahen said. “She’s kind of a small little filly. Norm said to let her be happy where she is, like last time. She was up there tugging on me, so I thought this is where we’re going to be. She settled down on the backside. It worked perfect.”
Mizzen Beau, a daughter of Mizzen Mast, banked $150,000 in her first stakes victory for Daniel Investment Holdings.
