Miz Mayhem prevails in Cedar Key Stakes

Mary Rampellini|Apr 27, 2018

Miz Mayhem delivered as the odds-on favorite Friday at Gulfstream Park, pushing a hot pace, overtaking the leader and winning by 1 1/4 lengths in the $75,000 Cedar Key. Auldwood Lane finished second, while it was another half-length back to Really Proud in third.

The Cedar Key was a five-furlong turf sprint for 3-year-old fillies.

Miz Mayhem ($3.40) broke sharply along with Roses in the South as the latter set fractions of 21.13 seconds for the opening quarter and 42.97 for the half-mile, pushed along by Miz Mayhem. The winner took over in the stretch and covered the distance on firm ground in 55.12 seconds. Edgard Zayas was aboard for trainer Eddie Plesa Jr.

Miz Mayhem earned $46,500 for owner Laurie Plesa. She is a daughter of Yesbyjimminy and has earned $158,720, with four wins in 11 starts.
