Misty Glow wins Matron Handicap

Longshot Misty Glow outfinished Phone Affair following a long stretch drive to account for Saturday night's Matron Handicap at Evangeline. Only a nose separated the top finishers at the wire while it was another two and three quarter lengths back to Leestown Lib in third. Starting highweight Good Humor Gal was fourth followed by 6-5 favorite Keep this Cat who faded after racing prominently early in the one-mile test for fillies and mares.

Clever handled by Sylvester Carmouche, Misty Glo ($38.00) settled comfortably off the early pace before making a solid advance four wide in the second turn. The winner engaged the pacesetting Phone Affair at the head of the lane and gained the nod at the wire in a time of 1:41.66 over a fast strip.

Trained by Thomas W. Sam for Rowell Enterprises, Misty Glow picked up her sixth career win from 21 starts. The 4-year-old Sanctuary picked up $30,000 for her wining connections and has now earned over $145,000 in her career.
