Miss Tatey Cat rolls into Friday feature

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Friday’s main event is an optional $25,000 claimer that drew a full field of 14 older fillies and mares going 7 1/2 furlongs on turf. The race has any number of logical contenders, led by Miss Tatey Cat, who has won eight races, including three of her last four. Trained by Nick Gonzalez, she’ll be joined in the starting gate by, among others, Sequoia Princess, Giant’s Jewel, Bibby, Al Khazaaliya, Sokie, Lady Zuzu, and Enthusiastic Gal.
The 11-race New Year’s Day program will begin at 12:05 p.m. Eastern.
◗ Sophia’s Song made her dirt and local debut a winning one Wednesday and might have earned herself a stakes berth. She parlayed a perfect trip into an easy entry-level allowance victory at a mile under jockey Javier Castellano. The daughter of Bellamy Road is a half-sister to the multiple stakes winner Tax Refund. She is trained by Sid Attard.
◗ The Grade 1-placed Conquest Eclipse, idle since finishing far back in the Coaching Club American Oaks last summer at Saratoga, posted a bullet work Wednesday at Palm Beach Downs, going four furlongs in 48.40 seconds. The work, the best of 30 at the distance on the tab, was the fourth on the comeback trail for Conquest Eclipse, who is trained by Mark Casse for Conquest Stables.
