Miss Frost in top form for Riskaverse

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Tom Albertrani will attempt to strike while the iron is hot with the steadily improving Miss Frost, who will seek her third consecutive victory in Friday’s $100,000 Riskaverse Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on turf at Saratoga.
Miss Frost broke her maiden in her turf debut here last summer, then went winless for nearly a year until she posted a nose decision against high-priced optional-claiming company at Belmont on July 10. She returned one month later with an even better effort, outlasting Final Redemption and Hillhouse High to capture the Tenski Stakes for statebreds in her return to Saratoga.
Edgar Prado will ride Miss Frost in the one-mile Riskaverse.
“She was a very nervous filly to be around when we first got her, but she’s really matured both physically and mentally,” said Albertrani. “She still tends to get a little uncomfortable when she’s in and around horses. She’s the type of filly who likes her own space, like she had in her last start, and hopefully Edgar will be able to get her to leave there and find a nice spot again on Friday.”
Miss Frost will attempt to reverse her setback here a year ago in the P.G. Johnson Stakes, where she finished third behind Granny Mc’s Kitten, who appears to be the filly to beat in the Riskaverse. Granny Mc’s Kitten returned from a three-month layoff to win a high-priced optional claimer here earlier this month for trainer Chad Brown.
DRF FORMULATOR FACT: No. 2 Miss Frost. Trainer Tom Albertrani is 5 for 46 with a $1.33 ROI over the past five years in turf routes following a victory. Click for more details. – Mike Hogan

Fashion Fund also will seek to avenge her latest setback, a late-running third behind Granny Mc’s Kitten while equipped with blinkers for the first time four weeks ago.
Latique has captured her last two starts and continues to progress from a Beyer Speed Figure standpoint for trainer Graham Motion but takes a big jump in class in the Riskaverse. So, too, will Prayed For, who steps up into stakes company for the red-hot Jimmy Jerkens stable off a maiden victory in her only start.
Old Harbor will share the high weight of 122 pounds with Miss Frost by virtue of her easy stakes win against New York-breds at Belmont on June 22.
