Barbara D. Livingston Miss Frost and jockey Edgar Prado win the Riskaverse Stakes by 4 3/4 lengths Friday.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Miss Frost won two stakes in 19 days last summer at Saratoga, but she hasn’t won since. On Saturday, she returns to the Spa in a contentious field of 12 entered in the $100,000 De La Rose Stakes for fillies and mares going a mile on the turf.

Overall, Miss Frost is 3 for 4 at Saratoga, with a third-place finish. She will have to find that Saratoga form.

Recent allowance winners Ticking Katie and Token of Love will advance into stakes company, while Stellar Path, third in the Grade 3 Eatontown, was perhaps hoping to find softer company in this spot.

Others entered include A Little Bit Sassy, Daring Kathy, Invading Humor, J Wonder, Joint Return, Nellie Cashman, Pink Poppy, Recepta, and Tuttipaesi.

Charming Kitten, Reload top Lure

Charming Kitten won his career debut over Saratoga’s turf course in 2012 and finished third in that year’s Grade 2 With Anticipation Stakes.

Three years, 20 starts, and more than $700,000 in earnings later, Charming Kitten returns to Saratoga and meets five rivals in Saturday’s $100,000 Lure Stakes at 1 1/16 miles.

Charming Kitten won the Belmont Gold Cup in June 2014, but after a seventh-place finish in the Grade 1 United Nations in July, he went to the sidelines. He came off the bench to win an optional claimer at Belmont by three-quarters of a length June 20.

He will take on Reload, who suffered a foot issue when fourth in the Forbidden Apple Stakes.

The rest of the field consists of Fixador, Manchurian High, Under Control, and Vyjack.

Ball Dancing done for the year

Ball Dancing, the winner of the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland in April, has been sent to the farm and will not race again this year, trainer Chad Brown said.

Ball Dancing last started in the Grade 1 Just a Game at Belmont, finishing eighth as the favorite.

“Just needs some time off,” Brown said. “She won her Grade 1 this year. Try to do the right thing and give her the break she’s asking for and point to a 5-year-old campaign.”
