Miss Dynamic, Runnin Out of Days blow away stakes rivals

Miss Dynamic proved her 10-length romp in her debut just eight days ago was no fluke when she won the $50,000 Angie C. at Emerald Downs Sunday.

She paid $4.60 for her 5 1/2-length victory over Aloha Breeze in the 5 1/2-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies.

Similar to her impressive performance in a $15,000 maiden claimer July 2, she flew out of the gate, this time from the rail with Juan Gutierrez aboard. Unlike in her maiden victory, she was under some pressure from Aloha Breeze while posting a quarter mile time of 21.46 seconds. She held a three-length advantage at the eighth pole, and when it looked like she may be tiring late, she switched leads and drew off to win convincingly.

Aloha Breeze, who was the favorite in the six-horse field, chased the winner the whole way and held on well while finishing a half-length in front of Stickinitotheman, who rallied late for third.

The final time was 1:03.89.

A homebred daughter of Dynamic, Miss Dynamic races for Antonio Mendez and is trained by Rigoberto Velasquez.

Gutierrez came back to win the co-featured $50,000 King County for 2-year-old colts and geldings with Runnin Out of Days.

Despite being a first-time starter breaking from the rail in the eight-horse field, Runnin Out of Days was sent off as the 2-1 second choice behind Dechambeau, who was the 6-5 favorite in the 5 1/2-furlong dash.

Runnin Out of Days bumped at the start with Nashville Skyline, but quickly recovered and held a one-length advantage over Gold Rush Junior with a first quarter in 21.62 seconds. He started to draw away from his opponents turning for home, and by midstretch the only question was how far he was going to win by. The final margin was 10 1/4 lengths over Dechambeau, who chased the top pair while going three wide. It was another 3 1/2 lengths back to It’s Turbo, who came from well back to finish a non-threatening third.

The final time was 1:03.32.

Runnin Out of Days gave trainer Blaine Wright his fourth stakes win at the meet.

The Washington-bred son of Abraaj races for BDW Racing, Abel Pulver and Shawn Dudo. BDW Racing consists of Wright, his wife, Risa, and daughter Ava.
