Miss Auramet has no trouble with surface change in Politely Stakes

Miss Auramet hasn’t yet met a surface she couldn’t handle. Entered for turf in the $75,000 Politely Stakes on Sunday at Monmouth Park, Miss Auramet had no trouble taking her talents to a sloppy main track when persistent weekend rain forced a surface switch, and she won the Politely by two lengths under Dylan Davis.
“The wonderful thing about her is she’s an all-terrain model,” winning trainer Kathleen O’Connell said.
Indeed, Miss Auramet now has two wins on a fast dirt track, two on wet dirt surfaces, and five victories over grass courses.
O’Connell is just getting to know Miss Auramet: her regular trainer, Eddie Plesa, sent her to O’Connell after the mare’s most recent start on May 2 at Gulfstream Park in Florida.

“He saw an opportunity for her at Monmouth and wanted her here,” O’Connell said. “She has trained really good. I’m not surprised she ran this well.”
Miss Auramet ($9.40) did run really well. Often contesting the early pace in her races, she was eased behind the leaders down the backstretch and around the first part of the far turn, Davis saving ground before making his move between horses at about the five-sixteenths marker. Miss Auramet surged inside the leader, Tracy Ann’s Legacy, went clear by the furlong grounds and never was challenged.
“Once she pushed through, she opened up another stride,” Davis said. “This was my first time on her. I love the way she ran. She listened to me the whole time. She came to run today.”
Bronx Beauty was along for second, six lengths in front of third-place No Mercy Percy as 2-1 favorite Honey I’m Good faded off the pace to finish sixth. Miss Auramet was timed in 57.60 seconds for five furlongs.
Five-year-old Miss Auramet is by Uncaptured out of Hello Rosie, by Yes It's True. She’s owned by David Melin, Leon Elman, and Laurie Plesa.
