Into Mischief, Gun Runner set earnings records as sires

As the calendar turned, Into Mischief wrapped up his third consecutive North American sire title.
Into Mischief, a 17-year-old son of Harlan’s Holiday standing at Spendthrift Farm, concluded 2021 with progeny earnings of $25,009,663, according to Daily Racing Form statistics. Not only was he well clear of his closest rival on the earnings list, Hill ‘n’ Dale’s Ghostzapper with $16,275,413, he shattered his own single-season earnings record of $22,506,085 established last year.
Into Mischief was not the only record-setting leading sire of 2021. The season’s breakout star was Horse of the Year Gun Runner, who stands at Three Chimneys Farm. In his freshman season, Gun Runner established an earnings record of $4,315,980 to lead that category – and also was the leading overall juvenile sire, leading Into Mischief on that list. His first-crop stakes winners are led by Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Echo Zulu.
Into Mischief and Gun Runner’s record accomplishments, along with the other leading sires of 2021, will be featured in Daily Racing Form’s annual Kentucky and Midwest Stallions special edition in January.
