Into Mischief filly has fastest furlong for Midlantic sale
Into Mischief will have a pair of representatives in the Preakness Stakes on Saturday at Pimlico, with Market King and Owendale. But first, he has some young horses running pretty fast at the nearby Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.
As the presale under-tack show for the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training continues, Into Mischief is represented by the show's fastest one-furlong worker, a filly who breezed in 10 seconds flat during Wednesday's session. He also has one of the half-dozen juveniles tied for the fastest quarter-mile through two of three sessions.
The bullet-working Into Mischief filly, consigned by Bobby Dodd as agent, is out of the stakes-placed Kafwain mare Peggy Jayne. The mare is the dam of one winner from two starters. Grade 1-placed Dynamic Sky and Top Decile appear on this catalog page.
Six juveniles worked quarter-miles in 21 3/5 seconds through Tuesday and Wednesday's sessions. The Into Mischief colt tied for that time is consigned by Top Line Sales as agent. He is out of the winning Latent Heat mare Nihilist, who is from the family of Grade 1 winners Dowsing, Ermine, Fire the Groom, and Sakhee's Secret.
The others tied for the fastest quarter-mile are a colt by Bayern and a filly by Palace Malice, both among this year's strong freshman sire class, colts by Awesome Again and Union Rags, and a filly by Street Sense.
Into Mischief has fared well at Fasig-Tipton's boutique 2-year-old auctions, registering the $1.2 million co-sale topper at the 2018 Gulfstream juvenile sale and a pair of seven-figure juveniles at this year's renewal of that auction. The $1.2 million colt became graded stakes winner Instagrand, who, along with fellow graded winners Maximus Mischief and Sombeyay, propelled Into Mischief to the juvenile sire title by earnings last year.
The sale's final preview session will take place Thursday, with the sale set for Monday and Tuesday. For hip-by-hip results from the breeze show, click here.
