Into Mischief breaks Tapit's earnings mark

Into Mischief is well on his way to earning his second consecutive leading general sire title, and will do so in emphatic fashion. The Spendthrift Farm stallion has broken Tapit's single-season earnings record for a North American stallion.
Through Nov. 22, Into Mischief's progeny have earned $19,994,720, according to Daily Racing Form statistics. Tapit, who stands at Gainesway Farm, established the previous mark of $19,907,973 in 2016 -- the third consecutive year he had broken the mark while leading the sire list three times. Into Mischief's record bankroll with more than a month remaining in the season gives him a sizeable lead over Tapit in the race for the 2020 sire title, as the latter has a bankroll of $11,429,760.
Into Mischief recorded four individual winners the weekend of Nov. 20-22 to push him past the record threshold. Gracetown won an allowance at Laurel Park on Nov. 20; Aasr won a maiden special weight at Churchill Downs the following day; and Valletta won a maiden-claiming race at Aqueduct on Nov. 22. Finally, later on Nov. 22, Into Mischief was represented by a new juvenile maiden special weight winner when Life Is Good stamped himself as a rising star with a 9 1/2-length debut victory at Del Mar.
Into Mischief's top earner this season is Authentic, who earned more than $6.1 million while winning the Kentucky Derby and Breeders' Cup Classic, along with a victory in the Haskell Invitational and a runner-up effort in the Preakness Stakes. The three victories also earned Authentic a $1 million bonus, which is not included in Into Mischief's total progeny earnings. Into Mischief's other top runners this season include multiple Grade 1 winner Gamine, winner of the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint; Dayoutoftheoffice, who won the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes and finished second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies; and eight other graded stakes winners, as he is also among the national leaders in that regard.
