ELMONT, N.Y. – Mischevious Alex, the Grade 1 Carter winner who finished third in Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap, and Drain the Clock, the Grade 1 Woody Stephens winner, both returned to the work tab Monday, each breezing three furlongs over Belmont Park’s training track. Vanderbilt at Saratoga on July 31, while Drain the Clock will make his next start in the Grade 2, $200,000 Amsterdam Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs there the following day. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. said both horses will be shipped to Saratoga later this week and, weather permitting, will work up there on Monday. Meanwhile, the Joseph-trained Ny Traffic worked five furlongs in 1:01.60 over the Belmont main track. He is pointing to the Monmouth Cup on July 17 at Monmouth Park.
