Miranda Diane siblings run on same card
It is unofficially Miranda Diane Day at Will Rogers Downs on Wednesday.
Miranda Diane, who won 10 of 13 starts at the Claremore, Okla., track from 2009-13, has two of her offspring on the card.

Shannon C goes in the featured ninth, an overnight handicap for 3-year-olds and up at 5 1/2 furlongs, and Runaround Rosey is in the eighth, a two-other-than allowance for fillies and mares over six furlongs.
“It’s pretty cool to get them in on the same day,” trainer Scott Young said. “They’ve never run on the same day.”
Young trains Shannon C and Runaround Rosey for the B and S Racing operation of Ted Bozarth and Robert E. Smith. B and S also raced Miranda Diane, who registered her six stakes wins at Will Rogers and earned more than $400,000.
“I remember watching horses trying to keep up with her, and they could not do it,” Young said. “At the top of the stretch, she’d just open up.”
Young said that Shannon C and Runaround Rosey are the first two foals out of Miranda Diane and they share some characteristics of their dam.
“There’s a lot of similarities,” Young said. “They both have speed. With Runaround Rosey, she’s able to settle a little more and have more of a punch at the end.
“Shannon C just likes to go as fast as he can as far as he can. He likes to run them off their feet early.”
Shannon C enters Wednesday’s feature off a runner-up finish in the $55,000 Thoroughbred Racing Association of Oklahoma Classic Sprint on April 28 at Will Rogers. Welder won the race by six lengths and became a millionaire.
“I was very pleased with his effort,” Young said of Shannon C. “It’s just unfortunate that Welder is just a freak.”
Floyd Wethey Jr. has the mount on Shannon C, a 5-year-old stakes winner by Latent Heat.
Runaround Rosey, a 4-year-old by Stephen Got Even, exits a ninth-place finish in the Miranda Diane Stakes on April 27 at Will Rogers. She will be making her third start off a layoff Wednesday.
“I expect her to show us what she’s able to do,” Young said. “I think she will be right there for the win. Coming off the layoff, it’s just taking her a lot longer to come around.”
Justin Shepherd has the mount from post 3.
As for Miranda Diane, she had a colt by Tapizar last week, Young said. He said the foal was born in Oklahoma for B and S Racing, which also is the breeder of Shannon C and Runaround Rosey. Young said Miranda Diane’s other foal is a yearling by Den’s Legacy.
