Remington Park

Miranda Diane gives turf a try

Mary Rampellini|Sep 23, 2010

Miranda Diane will make her first start on grass in the $50,000 Remington Park Turf Sprint and her exceptional speed could serve her well at the race’s five-furlong distance. She will be taking on a competitive group of male rivals, including Flatland Fever, a winner of five of his last six starts, and Laidbacklynny, the race’s defending champ.

Miranda Diane, who is a multiple stakes winner, drew well in getting post 2. She also has fired three consecutive bullets for what will be her first start since July. In one of those moves, Miranda Diane covered a half-mile in 46.80 seconds Aug. 21. In her most recent drill, she went three furlongs in 35 seconds Sept. 17.

Miranda Diane comes into the Remington Park Turf Sprint off a sixth-place finish in the Claiming Crown Glass Slipper. She broke last in the six-furlong race at Canterbury, and never found her way to the front, where she has won most of her races. Nena Matz will be aboard for trainer Shane Seaton.
