Julie Wright The Minkster returned $29.20 with the victory in the Coronation Futurity at Woodbine on Saturday.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - The Minkster remained unbeaten with a handy 13-1 score in Saturday’s $252,400 Coronation Futurity, a 1 1/8-mile test for Canadian-bred 2-year-olds.

With David Moran aboard, The Minkster tracked front-running Dancin in Da’nile and Shaun Bridgmohan through slow fractions in the 14-horse field.

The Minskter joined Dancin in Da’nile up front entering the stretch and then lugged in a little before drawing clear in the final furlong to prevail by 2 1/4 lengths, in a time of 1:52.51.

J M R Best of Turf, an 89-1 bomb, finished third. The troubled favorite, God of Love, wound up fifth, a nose behind fourth-place finisher Shamateur.

Moran also rode the The Minkster when the son of English Channel won his debut in a maiden special weight turf sprint by 6 1/4 lengths Oct. 2.

“He’s a lovely horse,” Moran said. “Coming from the sprint, I wasn’t sure if he would be a bit rank first time going two turns. He broke sharp. The two on the inside went, and he got in behind Shaun and went to sleep down the backstretch. When I asked him to pick up, he came on the bridle half-way around the turn. He was lugging in a little bit on Shaun there, but once I got clear of Shaun, he just opened up. He did the same on the turf. I think he has the makings of a nice 3-year-old.”

The Minkster ($29.20) earned $150,000 for Sea Glass Stables.

*** Aubrieta notched her first stakes win with ease in Saturday’s $140,250 Glorious Song, giving trainer Mark Casse a record 10th victory in the seven-furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies.

Aubrieta saved ground in fourth before Patrick Husbands angled her wide for the drive, and she swept by the leaders early in the stretch en route to a two-length tally, in a time of 1:22.85.

Howdyoumakeurmoney edged out Chocolateaddiction for second in the eight-horse field. Favored Skylerville finished fifth after a wide trip.

A daughter of Speightster, Aubrieta ($8.90) earned $90,000 for owner-breeder Conrad Farms.
