Trainer Robert Falcone Jr. moved the work up a day to try to beat the rain. A shower fell while Mind Your Biscuits was working, but the track was still fast. Heavy rain fell after training hours.
Mind Your Biscuits, with Joel Rosario up, went his first quarter in 24.18 seconds and came home in 22.99 while in the 3 path. Mind Your Biscuits, the winner of the Grade 2 Amsterdam at Saratoga, wore blinkers in the work, equipment he has worn in his last four starts.
Mind Your Biscuits did not wear blinkers last Sunday when he worked five furlongs in 1:00.45.
“We wanted a little more serious work,” Falcone said. “[Rosario] said he did everything perfect. He liked it. We liked it.”
Mind Your Biscuits finished fifth in the Grade 1 King’s Bishop and second in the Gallant Bob at Parx last out. But his two works since the Gallant Bob have Falcone eagerly anticipating his Breeders’ Cup debut.
“I always said I’d never go unless I had one in there,” he said. “It’s exciting.”
Mind Your Biscuits is scheduled to ship to California on Sunday.
