Mind Your Biscuits targets Dubai Golden Shaheen

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Mind Your Biscuits is scheduled to leave with other American prospects for the Dubai World Cup Carnival on a transatlantic flight out of Fort Lauderdale International Airport on March 14, trainer Chad Summers said following the colt’s narrow loss to Unified in the Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Sprint here Saturday.
Mind Your Biscuits closed stoutly while earning a 101 Beyer Speed Figure, his fourth straight triple-digit mark. The New York-bred colt runs next in the $2 million Golden Shaheen on March 25 at Meydan in Dubai.
“You always want to win, but I loved the race he ran Saturday,” said Summers. “It should set us up perfectly for Dubai. I’ll probably breeze him once on March 11 before we leave.”
Meanwhile, trainer Jimmy Jerkens said Unified could be pointed long range to the Grade 1 Met Mile on June 10 at Belmont Park. The Centennial Farms colt also earned a 101 Beyer while making his first start in more than eight months.
• They’ve enjoyed big days together on their home circuit in Kentucky, but winning three races Sunday at Gulfstream was a rarity for the trainer-jockey team of Dale Romans and Corey Lanerie.
From four races together, their winners were Tizthesound ($5.40) in the first, Sambrook Edge ($2.80) in the sixth, and Picadilly Roadster ($7.60) in the ninth.
“It’s the kind of day you’re in this line of work for,” said Romans.
• There’s not so much as a single allowance on an 11-race Thursday card that marks the return of live racing here following a rare three-day break, but there’s always the Rainbow 6 (races 6-11) for fans to target. After Sunday’s action, the rollover jackpot in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 stood at $79,451. First post is 12:35 p.m. Eastern.
