Mind Your Biscuits closing in on next start

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Many people will argue that Mind Your Biscuits is the fastest horse in the world. In fact, he’s so fast that he even makes the work tab when he’s just galloping.
Trainer Chad Summers scrapped plans to breeze Mind Your Biscuits here early Friday morning because he was not entirely happy with the drying-out main track. Instead, Summers sent Mind Your Biscuits to the track to “open gallop” at 9:30, and the Dubai Golden Shaheen and Belmont Sprint Championship winner was so sharp that he covered his final half-mile in 50.53 seconds before continuing out strongly around the clubhouse turn.
“I just didn’t think the track was great after it opened, and while it was better after the break, I still wasn’t comfortable enough with it to work him,” said Summers. “He was just kind of open galloping, and he’s feeling so good, he’s so happy right now, his open gallop is like a work for many other horses.”
Summers said he is torn between bringing Mind Your Biscuits back in the Grade 1 Forego here or the Grade 2 Pat O’Brien at Del Mar. Both races are at seven furlongs and will be run Aug. 26.
“We’ll watch the Vanderbilt here and Bing Crosby out there this weekend, check out the nomination lists, and make a decision at some point in the next few weeks,” said Summers. “Basically, it comes down to whether we decide we want to get in a race over the track at Del Mar prior to the Breeders’ Cup.”
Summers said he’s scheduled serious works for Mind Your Biscuits with jockey Joel Rosario aboard for the next two Friday mornings.
