Mind Control, a three-time Grade 1 winner including a victory in the $750,000 Cigar Mile on Dec. 3 at Aqueduct in his final career start, will stand stud at Rockridge Farm in Hudson, N.Y. Mind Control will be under the management of Irish Hill Farm, Dutchess View Stallions, and Rockridge Stud. He will serve stallion duty as the property of those three entities as well as Waldorf Farm, Red Oak Stable, and Madaket Stable, according to a press release. Mind Control will stand for $8,500 live foal. Following his victory in the Cigar Mile, there was interest in Mind Control from farms in the United States, Middle East, and Japan, according to Rick Sacco, racing manager for Stephen Brunetti’s Red Oak Stable, which owned Mind Control in partnership with Sol Kumin. “Given that his three Grade 1 victories were on the NYRA circuit, we believe Rockridge Stud in the state of New York is the perfect place for Mind Control to begin his stallion career,” Sacco said in a press release. “Ultimately, Stephen Brunetti wanted the horse to stay in the U.S. Sol Kumin agreed, a deal was struck with Rockridge Stud, Irish Hill Farm, and Dutchess View Stallions, and a partnership was formed.” Mind Control, a son of Stay Thirsty out of mare Feel That Fire, won 12 races from 29 starts and earned $2,185,834. At 2, he won the Grade 1 Hopeful and at 3 the H. Allen Jerkens while under the care of trainer Gregg Sacco. His other stakes wins under Sacco included the Jerome, Grade 3 Bay Shore, Grade 3 Tom Fool, and Grade 3 Toboggan. Mind Control made his final nine starts for trainer Todd Pletcher and won two editions of the Parx Dirt Mile, the Grade 2 John Nerud, the Grade 3 Salvator Mile, and the Cigar Mile. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
