Mind Control, Happy Farm figure close in Tom Fool

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Mind Control, the multiple Grade 1-winning sprinter, and Happy Farm, the Grade 3 Fall Highweight winner, will line up side-by-side in Saturday’s Grade 3, $200,000 Tom Fool Handicap at six furlongs.
Mind Control, coming off a win in the Grade 3 Toboggan, drew post 4 and will carry top weight of 125 pounds under Junior Alvarado. Alvarado replaces John Velazquez, who has a commitment to ride at Tampa Bay Downs.

Happy Farm won the Grade 3 Fall Highweight and then was beaten a head by stablemate Firenze Fire in the Gravesend. He drew post 5 and will carry 123 pounds under Jose Lezcano.
Trainer Gregg Sacco had been pointing Mind Control to the Grade 1 Carter on April 4, but said he is doing too good to leave in the barn.
“He’s just training lights out, jumping out of his skin, needs to race,” Sacco said. “He’s asking us to run him.”
The field includes Skyler’s Scramjet, who won this race in 2018 and ran fourth in 2019. Skyler’s Scramjet, trained by Michelle Nevin, has not raced since a last-place finish behind Bon Raison in the Tale of the Cat Stakes last August at Saratoga. Bon Raison, making his first start since being claimed for $80,000 by Mike Tannuzzo, is in the Tom Fool.
Nevin also sends out Wonderful Light in the Tom Fool. Wonderful Light was second to Happy Farm in the Fall Highweight and fourth in the Gravesend.
Sicilia Mike and Mr. Dougie Fresh both were entered in a Friday allowance race and this race. Wentz, unraced since a fourth in the Grade 3 Maryland Sprint last May, completes the field.
