Millionaire gelding Cooptado retired

The globetrotting millionaire Cooptado has been retired and will be made available for adoption as a sport-horse prospect via the Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center in Lexington, Ky.
The 9-year-old gelding last started in March. He concluded his career, during which he won on both dirt and turf at distances from seven furlongs to 1 9/16 miles, with a record of 46-6-7-4 and earnings of $1,193,150.
Cooptado began his career in his native Argentina, where he was named champion 3-year-old after winning the Group 1 Argentine Derby in 2013. He went on to a productive campaign in Singapore, winning the Group 1 Singapore Gold Cup in 2015 and placing in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup the following year. He also raced in Dubai before coming to the U.S. in 2017 for the remainder of his career, winning the 2017 Tenacious Stakes at Fair Grounds and finishing second in the Laurel Turf Cup last fall.
