Miller plans string at Oaklawn, C Z Rocket could make appearance

The Southern California-based trainer Peter Miller plans to have a division of horses this winter at Oaklawn Park. The Hot Springs, Ark., track opens Dec. 9.
“We’re going to bring a small string after the Del Mar meet finishes up, and we’re looking forward to it,” Miller said last week. “I think we’ll have right about 15 horses there.”
The current Del Mar meet closes Dec. 4.
Miller said C Z Rocket, a past winner of the Grade 3, $500,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap at Oaklawn, could make an appearance at the Arkansas meet. The horse last raced in the Breeders’ Cup and finished second in the Sprint.
“You’ll probably see him at some point,” Miller said. “He will show his face.
“He is the best. He just makes me smile.”
C Z Rocket, a gelding who is 8, is nearing $2 million in career earnings. He races for the partnership of Tom Kagele, Altamira Racing Stable, Madaket Stables, and Gary Barber.
