Miller has big weekend of his own

ELMONT, N.Y. – Trainer Peter Miller may not have had as good a weekend as his fellow Californian Bob Baffert did, but he still enjoyed a successful stay in New York, winning two stakes races from five starters at Belmont Park.
Miller won Friday’s Grade 2 True North with Roy H, then came back Sunday and took the $150,000 Jersey Girl Stakes with Chalon. Miller got to watch the Jersey Girl on his iPad right before he boarded a plane to return to Southern California.
“I love New York,” Miller said.

And Miller likely will return. Roy H, who earned a 112 Beyer Speed Figure for his 2 1/2-length True North win, could run in the Grade 1 Bing Crosby at Del Mar on July 20 before targeting the Grade 1 Forego at Saratoga on Aug. 26.
Chalon, who earned a 94 Beyer for her 6 1/2-length victory in the Jersey Girl, could be a candidate for the Grade 1 Test on Aug. 5 at the Spa.
